Nashville LaunchPad

Blakemore will be supporting the ministry of Nashville Launch Pad this winter by providing overnight volunteers and a hot dinner one night a month. Nashville Launch Pad provides services and supports for youth and young adults in the LGBTQIA+ community who are experiencing homelessness. From their website: “Nashville Launch Pad is Dedicated to Creating Safe Spaces that Affirm the Rights and Dignity of LGBTQ+ Young Adults.”

Services that specifically support LGBTQ+ young people who are experiencing homelessness are needed because this population of young people are disproportionately represented among the overall homeless population.  As a congregation that takes our commitment to love and guide the young people who are part of our church family no matter what very seriously, it might be hard for us to understand that many of these young people are unhoused because their families have kicked them out.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

You can get involved, even if you aren’t a Blakemore member!

Blakemore will be providing a taco bar to young adults on the first Monday of each month. We need your help in two ways:

1. We will be taking donations for the taco bar to be dropped off on the Sunday morning before meal service.

2. We need help to cook and serve on Monday evenings.

If you can volunteer to bring one or more of the items, and/or you would like to cook and serve, please contact us by calling the church during office hours, or emailing info@blakemoreumc.org. You can also give money to support this important work by clicking on “Give” above and directing your gift to Nashville Launch Pad.
