Children's Ministry

Blakemore has a dynamic and growing ministry dedicated to the faith formation and spiritual development of children aged 0-12. We offer a regular Sunday School, divided by age and taught by church members, as well as a Confirmation class for 5th and 6th graders. Children’s programs from 6:30-7:30 on Wednesday nights range from spiritual disciplines experiences to our Children's Christmas Musical practices. There are also seasonal events such as Vacation Bible School, Easter Fun Day, Advent Workshop, and a Christmas Musical. In Worship, we offer opportunities geared toward children: a Children's Time in which Scripture is explained in a child-friendly way; and Children's Worship Bulletins that offer engaging work on the day's Scriptural topic. We are always looking for responsible adults to help guide our children.

A Vibrant Music Ministry

Chancel Choir
Meets for rehearsal every Wednesday night from 7:30-8:30 in Room 205. We are not a professional choir, but a good one. If you enjoy singing and are fairly proficient at reading music, we invite you to join us. Our music director is Rheatta Petty. Contact her using our website Contact page.
Children’s Choir
This choir is for the little ones and is directed by Carrie Friddell. Our children offer their music in worship at least once a quarter. We welcome them all. Contact Carrie using our website Contact page.
Blakemore Boys Bluegrass Band
The Blakemore Boys have developed a repertoire of gospel and bluegrass music over a period of nearly thirty years. The original Boys are no longer boys, but we've added a younger dude or two to the mix.  We rehearse when we need to, usually in preparation for a concert at Blakemore, or elsewhere in response to an invitation. We particularly enjoy visiting and playing for our homebound members and for residents of area nursing and retirement facilities.   You can reach us through our leader Earnie Hickerson. Check our website Contact page for contact information.
